Memphis Pal Moore, Jack Root, Dave Shade, John Gull, A.F. Bettinson and Harry Carpenter were all inducted posthumously.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. needs to get right back into the action, after his June 4th win, says Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.  Arum is trying to schedule a fight before trainer Freddie Roach leaves for the Phillipines to train with Manny Pacquiao for his Nov. 12th fight.  They have picked Sept. 24th as the desired date, and HBO is considering it.  There are 3 possible opponents for Chavez: Darren Barker, of England, Peter Manfredo Jr., American, and Marco Antonio Rubio, a fellow Mexican.  Arum wants to keep Chavez busy, so after the September title defense fight there will probably be another in December.

Boxing Training - Boxing Defense Moves, Cont.

The Cover-Up - your last opportunity to protect your face or body from an incoming punch.  This is the defense you see when the boxer is only concerned with protecting himself while his opponent punches a few times.  Both fists up high over the face, with the forearms protecting the torso... however, this guard is weak against attacks from below.

Kostya Tszyu
The Clinch - This move is done when the distance between the fighters is close, and is done to prevent hooks and uppercuts.  Loop both hands around the outside of your opponent's shoulders, and then scoop back under their forearms "clinching" their arms to your body.  However, this move is technically against the rules and in amateur boxing you can lose points for using it.
